What we’re looking for:

butter is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to manage the company’s financial transactions and ensure accurate record-keeping. This individual will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing transactions, inputting bills, and supporting the financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience working with QuickBooks. 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Maintain accurate financial records by recording all transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. 
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Accurately record and categorize incoming bills in QuickBooks in a timely manner , ensuring proper documentation and a lignment with company accounts. 
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Upload weekly sales data from our POS system into Quickbooks and reconcile transactions to ensure accuracy and consistency across financial records.  
• Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.  
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.  
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to financial reporting and tax filings.  
• Support audits and provide necessary documentation as needed.  
• Organize and maintain financial files and records for easy retrieval.  
• Work closely with the CEO and Director of Operations to support financial planning and decision-making.  
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

General:

• Must be 21 years or older and pass a background check.

Education/Experience:

• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.  
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.  
• Experience in the cannabis industry is a plus but not required.  

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in QuickBooks
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with spreadsheets.
• Experience with financial reporting and bank reconciliations.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. 
• Knowledge of Michigan state regulations for cannabis businesses is a plus. 
• Must be proactive and take initiative in managing financial responsibilities. 
• Strong Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial records. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze financial data.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Oral & Written Communication:

• Strong ability to document financial data and communicate findings.
• Ability to interpret and explain financial reports to management. 

Work Ethic & Teamwork: 

• Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
• High level of integrity and reliability.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
