Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of nursing personnel in the operating room and surgical services area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the facility. Participates in planning work of assigned areas and coordinates activities with other Managers and Director of Nursing . Ensures that patient needs are met and evaluates area nursing care and performance. Works closely with the Director of Nursing in coordinating patient-care service functions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • RN with active license in appropriate state
  • CPR & ACLS Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years Healthcare supervisory experience
  • Evidence of leadership qualities
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English

Preferred

  • BSN / Master’s Degree
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
  • Computer literacy

Responsibilities:

Daily operations

  • Coordinates and monitors operational activities for effective and efficient management of daily operation; reports deficiencies to the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure departmental check list are accurate and maintained.
  • Ensure OR communication board is being kept up to date by OR charge.
  • Preparation of projected 6 week staffing schedule to ensure adequate licensed and non-licensed staff are schedule to meet patient care needs
  • Ensuring all individuals in the OR are properly credentialed and identified
  • Coordinates scheduling procedures with scheduling personnel and Anesthesia
  • Maintain OR block schedule
  • Daily rounds to ensure efficiency of operations and staff oversight
  • Maintain staff accountability to policy and procedures.
  • Ensure staff maintenance of timecards to include approval of payroll
  • Timely response to email and requested communications
  • Assist clinical director to identify and evaluate need for items relative to trends and physician requests
  • Complete and submit X-Ray badge report and ensure X-ray licenses are up to date and maintained
  • Ensure chart audits are reviewed and reconciled.
  • Oversees preparation of daily personnel assignments
  • Assists in cross-training clinical staff to create a productive work environment for all clinical areas
  • Evaluates the performance of all clinical personnel in his/her areas and assesses the quality of care and services for possible improvements
  • Observes performance of all clinical staff members and provides feedback
  • Ensures that staff implement established facility policies and procedures
  • Participates in designated committees
  • Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure facility’s policies/procedures are followed
  • Ensure work orders are submitted timely.
  • Serves as a liaison among patients, families, nursing, and medical staff to coordinate quality patient care
  • Promotes harmonious relations and favorable attitudes among the healthcare team
  • Remains current on all applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, professional standards and accreditation standards
